Dark Matter
Dark Matter is a project funded by the Institute for Broadband Technology in Belgium (IBBT). Its goal is to explore the world wide web as a physical space: as a visitor you'll be able to manipulate data with your body in an immersive environment.
Who's involved?
The team is made up of a mixture of artists and scientists:
- Tom Heene: video artist
- Dries De Roeck, Dirk Bollen: researchers at the Centre for Usability Research in Leuven
- Tom Deryckere, Kris Vanhecke: engineers at the Wireless & Cable research group in Ghent
- Pieter Heremans, Gert Aertsen: artists and developers from Lahaag
- Lieven Menschaert, Tom De Smedt: developers for NodeBox
Algorithms developed for NodeBox are be used for data mining.
Development for the real-time visualizer is done in Processing.
Here's a screenshot of the prototype being tested, in residence at iMAL.
