Plans for Porting it to Win/Linux dropped?

Posted by n on Jan 31, 2007

Because i could not find the win test version on the research pages anymore.
It would be sad because there are no similar programs for win (processing is a little more complicate).

The Windows test version is still there:

A lot of people keep asking about a full-featured Windows version. However, for the moment this is not something we are actively working on. NodeBox is still just 2 people and if we have to decide whether to develop a difficult Windows port or introduce a brand new feature or library, we tend to go for the latter.

Perhaps as the community grows we might have some people interested in making a Windows port.

We need a Windows port! :)

Hi,

A new port is in the works, this time using QT (That's the Trolltech's QT framework, not QuickTime).

There is no official release yet, but if you're eager enough you can look at the source (it's in a seperate try-qt branch).

This is not just for Windows, this version works on Linux and Mac as well. We're still working out licensing issues (given that QT is GPL) and rendering is far from perfect, but we hope it will become feature-complete in the near future.

Kind regards,

Frederik
