NodeBox 2 is not being worked on, but NodeBox 3 definitely is! Though it will probably be called Gravital instead of NodeBox 3.
We are doing the best we can to make it cross-platform - in theory. With in theory>/i> I mean: in Gravital our research deals mainly with Artificial Creativity, natural language processing and node networks - the software side and not the hardware side. Gravital will support switchable rendering engines (e.g. Cocoa, OpenGl, Cairo) of which we will probably only implement Cocoa ourselves. It's what we are most familiar with, and you get lots of things for free so we can focus on our algorithms.
So that leaves the implementation of rendering engines capable of running on Linux and/or Windows up to people with more experience in those fields.
If you have any ideas on this we should definitely discuss.

nodebox 2 and 3?
Posted by freder on Aug 03, 2007hi!
I've got a couple of questions concerning nodebox 2 and 3:
- are they actively developed? -- it seems to me that at least nodebox 2 isn't.
- is there a chance that nodebox 3 is going to be platform independent?
- (if so) how can I contribute to nodebox 3?
