manipulating vector graphics

Posted by kevin on Apr 09, 2009

I took a line drawing from a photocopy of newspaper article from the 1930s and scanned it in. I then used photoshop and gimp to clean up the picture as best i could and then opened it in illustrator and traced the original as closely as possible to make a new, clean graphic.

Now I would like to take that vector graphic and animate it, rendering or revealing the drawing one line/circle/whathaveyou at a time. I am having a *very* hard time finding some software (besides flash) that will animate a vector graphic.

I am hoping that node can do such a thing, as it is open source and I am already a python programmer so it would be very nice to program in a language i already am familiar with.

Can pre-drawn vector graphics be animated with node?

best,

kevin

the answer (to answer my own question) is clearly yes. via the svg lib.

Nodebox rules... where are all the users? There has got to be more folks using this sucka. It is really brilliant. I just installed the module version and ran it inside another application that embeds python --amazing!

Interesting. Can you tell something more about your setup? What is Module version, how to install it, what application are u using?

Thanx!

There does seem to be little activity here but I think there's a lot of nodebox use.

To Nbveh's comment, I'd love to hear how you worked this through.
thanks.
