Library location

Posted by Jimmy Gunawan on Jan 06, 2010

Hi guys,

I noticed that the path recommended here...
http://beta.nodebox.net/wiki/NodeBox_for_Programmers

"Save the node as ndbx file in user/Library/NodeBox/Scripts in a folder with a corresponding name."

.... was no longer working since the latest NB2 version.

On the previous version of NB2, I saved the nodes in here, and it works:
\user\Local Settings\Application Data\NodeBox\Scripts

Is the path correct?

Thanks.

Jimmy, are you working on Windows? NB1 was a Mac-only project, so most of the documentation is probably biased towards Mac. "user/Library/NodeBox/Scripts" is a Mac OS X path.

Hi Josh,

Yes I am working on Windows, NB2.

I remembered following the tutorial exactly and then I copied the script into:
C:\Documents and Settings\User\Local Settings\Application Data\NodeBox\Scripts

It was working and the build-it-yourself node appears on NB2 UI.

But, the recent version seems to look at other location for this.

The one you mentioned (C:\Documents and Settings\User\Local Settings\Application Data\NodeBox\Scripts ) should be the correct directory. If the directory's there, it should take it.

We're currently doing a workshop and we're posting pre-release version there. Could you try it with the latest one from there?

All the best,

Hi Frederik,

I tried this build you recommended, but unfortunately it still did not work. Very strange, I am sure it works with previous, previous build. The folder is there.

I wonder if anyone else experiencing the same issue? My suspicion is my username which is:
C:\Documents and Settings\Jimmy Gunawan\Application Data\NodeBox\Scripts

It has space, but I don't think this matters though, because it just works before.

Cheers guys, good luck with the workshop. Wish I were there. Merci beaucoup~

And just to add, I have also tried:
1. Uninstall and reinstall NodeBox, but still the node is not there.
2. Installing NodeBox under different username, but that directory path is not there.

So far I have only tried under the same PC though.

I tried uninstall and reinstall Nodebox again, using my admin account, and my correction, the Scripts folder is in fact created automatically.

So, I pasted the files, such as Chrysant.ndbx, but nope, same, non of this custom made node is there.

Really odd.

I switched to my girlfriend's laptop and installed this latest build of NodeBox. On her computer, user is exactly user and NodeBox created that folder path. I put the custom node files in there.

And... still does not work. There might be something missing, it can't be just me :|

Alright, for now I gave up and will use the new "copy and paste" function to get some useful nodes into the project I am doing.

Any updates for this? I'm working with 2.0.966 on Windows and can't figure out where to place libraries.
